David E Rhoades, Illegal Firearm Possession, Tennessee 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The grim tale of David E. Rhoades, 36, from Goodlettsville, Tennessee, took a darker turn as the punchy defendant received a 15-month sentence for illegal firearm possession.

Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., unveiled the verdict today, with U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo handing down the severe punishment.

Rhoades’s crime spree reached its peak on August 28, 2016, when he attempted to breach the Canadian border at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry, only to be halted by customs officials for carrying a loaded 9mm pistol without a permit.

The Border Services Agency led him back to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where they seized a arsenal of drug paraphernalia. A pill bottle laden with cocaine residue, a pipe, rolling papers with marijuana痕迹, and a scale were all found in Rhoades’ vehicle. His admission as a cocaine user only served to compound his troubles.

This sentence is the outcome of a joint investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, directed by Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly; Customs and Border Protection, led by Rose Brophy; and the Canada Border Services Agency.
