Tennessee Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Heist
A brazen bank robbery has landed a Tennessee man in hot water, with a guilty plea to Bank Robbery, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a). Bart Green, age 62, of Nashville, Tennessee, admitted to pulling off the daring heist on March 1, 2024, at the Regions Bank in New Orleans, Louisiana.
According to the plea agreement, Green, with a calculated coolness, entered the bank and presented a note to a teller demanding $2,000. He then received $2,000 in $100 bills before making a swift exit. The teller, unaware of the gravity of the situation, handed over the cash, leaving Green to make his escape.
Green’s guilty plea comes with a hefty price tag. He faces a maximum of 20 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, up to three years of supervised release following his release from prison, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, led by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force and the New Orleans Police Department for their role in bringing Green to justice.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul J. Hubbell of the General Crimes Unit will handle the prosecution, with sentencing scheduled for September 19, 2024, before United States District Judge Eldon Fallon. Green’s actions have left a lasting impact on the community, and his guilty plea serves as a reminder that the tough-on-crime approach will not be tolerated.
The investigation and subsequent prosecution of Green serve as a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in Louisiana. As the people of New Orleans continue to rebuild and recover, the guilty plea of Green brings a sense of closure, knowing that justice has been served.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated his commitment to keeping the streets of Louisiana safe from the likes of Green. ‘Our office will continue to work tirelessly to protect our communities from the scourge of violent crime,’ he said.
