A Worcester man has been indicted for violating federal laws related to firearm possession.
Terrence Kenol, 24, was found in possession of a firearm and a loaded magazine in his vehicle on September 3, 2021, according to charging documents.
At the time of the offense, Kenol was on probation for a prior state conviction for kidnapping and assault and battery.
The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle L. Dineen Jerrett is prosecuting the case, which was announced by Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell, James Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Worcester Police Chief Steven M. Sargent.
The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Terrence Kenol is currently in state custody and will make an appearance in federal court in Worcester at a later date.
