Tennessee Man Sentenced to 484 Months for Armed Robbery in Memphis

In a brazen string of heists that shook the streets of Memphis, Terry Farris, 38, of Millington, has been sentenced to 484 months in federal prison for armed robbery affecting interstate commerce.

According to evidence presented in court, Farris, along with Eugene Cox, 23, and Squantivia S. Patterson, 23, both of Memphis, participated in the robbery of seven Memphis businesses between January 13 and 23, 2016. The targeted establishments included Shoney’s, Family Dollar, Krystal’s, Circle K, Church’s, Subway, and Beauty and Beyond.

The investigation, led by the Memphis Police Department’s Safe Streets Task Force, revealed that Farris was involved in two robberies with Cox and Patterson. On January 13, 2016, the trio robbed the Shoney’s at 308 Covington Pike, with Farris serving as the lookout outside the business. Later that evening, Cox and Patterson were captured on surveillance video inside the Circle K at 6133 Macon.

On January 14, 2016, Farris robbed Family Dollar at 2711 Getwell and Krystal’s at 3675 Lamar. The following day, he struck again, this time targeting Church’s at 925 Poplar. Meanwhile, Cox and Patterson robbed Subway at 2938 Covington Pike on the same day. Their final robbery took place on January 23, 2016, at the Beauty and Beyond beauty supply, 9024 Covington Pike.

As a result of the investigation, latent prints lifted from the crime scene at Family Dollar were matched to Farris. Surveillance video from Family Dollar, Krystal’s, and Church’s, as well as victims’ identification of Farris from photo line-ups, further implicated him in the crimes.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karen Hartridge and Kevin Whitmore prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Lawrence J. Laurenzi, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, announced the sentence.

Farris’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in armed robbery and other violent crimes. The Memphis community can rest a little easier knowing that justice has been served in this case.
