Unlicensed Firearms Dealing Ring Busted in Missouri

Cape Girardeau, Missouri – In a shocking expose, four individuals, including Terry Lee Allen, 38, have admitted to their involvement in the illicit sale of firearms in Missouri. This brazen operation, which spanned over three years, not only put innocent lives at risk but also led to the proliferation of guns at crime scenes across several states.

The mastermind behind this operation was Terry Lee Allen, who pleaded guilty on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau to one count of unlicensed firearms dealing. According to the plea agreement, Allen repeatedly bought multiple firearms from licensed dealers, including Bull Run Weaponry in Marble Hill, Missouri. Notably, six of the seven guns linked to crime scenes in multiple states were purchased from Bull Run Weaponry.

William Henry Otto, the owner of Bull Run Weaponry, failed to report Allen’s suspicious conduct to the ATF, despite being aware of his client’s illicit activities. Otto even went a step further by falsifying records to conceal Allen’s involvement in the illegal sale of firearms. The ATF special agents conducted undercover operations, purchasing firearms from Allen on two separate occasions.

During a court-approved search of Allen’s home on December 21, 2021, agents found 24 firearms and $55,200 in cash. Allen admitted to not having a Federal Firearms License (FFL), which is a mandatory requirement for selling firearms. The investigation revealed that Otto had sold at least 199 guns to Allen, the majority of which were sold to others without proper documentation.

Terry Lee Allen is scheduled to be sentenced on November 26. Meanwhile, William Henry Otto, 46, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting unlicensed firearms dealing and admitted to knowingly aiding Allen in his illicit gun sales. Otto is scheduled to be sentenced on November 21.

The case highlights the need for stricter regulations and better monitoring of firearms sales. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Willis prosecuting the case. The guilty pleas will undoubtedly send a strong message to those involved in the illicit firearms trade.

The consequences of unlicensed firearms dealing are dire, and this case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact it can have on communities. As the investigation unfolds, it is essential to hold accountable those responsible for perpetuating this illicit trade.
