Boston Man Convicted of Gun Charges
A Boston man was convicted yesterday of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, specifically a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number. The defendant, Tevin Abercrombie, 29, was found guilty of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to the indictment, in April 2020, Abercrombie possessed a black Taurus 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number, loaded with one round in the chamber and an additional 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition in the magazine. This was in violation of his federal supervised release, as he had previously served a federal prison sentence for firearm and drug convictions in 2016.
The charging statute provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing for Abercrombie is scheduled for April 24, 2024.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys John T. Dawley and Fred M. Wyshak, III of the Organized Crime & Gang Unit are prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division, and the Boston Police Department.
