U.S. District Judge William F. Jung has meted out a 10-year sentence to James Anthony Davila (21, Texas) for his despicable actions of enticing a minor and receiving child sex abuse material.
Davila, who pleaded guilty on June 6, 2025, was convicted of meeting a 12-year-old girl online during a video game session. The sinister interaction escalated into a depraved exchange of sexually explicit photos, culminating in the young victim being preyed upon by Davila as he traveled from Texas to Florida.
Law enforcement officials wasted no time in apprehending the predator. The Tampa Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with support from the Midway (Florida) Police Department and Johnson County (Texas) Sheriff’s Office, conducted a thorough investigation that led to Davila’s conviction.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Ross Roberts, who has been relentless in pursuing justice for victims of child sexual exploitation. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, the Justice Department’s initiative launched in 2006 to combat the escalating crisis of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
