Texas Woman Faces Life Behind Bars for Meth Trafficking

Arlene Viridiana Moya, 23, of Texas, has been convicted of her role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation in Mississippi. Moya, who was driving a vehicle on January 22, 2018, when she was pulled over for a traffic violation, had approximately 16 kilograms or 35 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the fuel tank.

According to court documents, the methamphetamine was seized by a Rankin County Sheriff’s Deputy after he stopped Moya’s vehicle for a traffic violation. The seizure was the result of a long-term joint investigation by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (ICE/HSI) Jackson, MS office.

Moya’s plea deal, which was accepted by U.S. District Judge William H. Barbour, will see her face a maximum penalty of life in prison followed by a $10,000,000 fine. Moya is set to be sentenced on November 27, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Chris Wansley, who praised the efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. ‘This case is a great example of the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies working together to bring down major trafficking operations,’ Wansley said.

The seizure of 16 kilograms of methamphetamine is a significant blow to the trafficking operation, and authorities are confident that this conviction will send a strong message to those involved in the trade.

As the Grimy Times continues to investigate this case, we will provide updates on any developments. For now, it appears that Arlene Viridiana Moya’s life is about to take a drastic turn for the worse.
