A ruthless gangland-style robbery that left an innocent victim battered and traumatized has landed a Rockland County man behind bars. Thierry Antoine, 34, of Spring Valley, New York, was convicted yesterday in White Plains federal court for his role in the Hobbs Act robbery and firearms charge. The brazen crime took place on December 16, 2019, at the residence of a known marijuana dealer in Chestnut Ridge, New York.
According to the evidence presented at trial, Antoine and five others conspired to rob the residence, bringing with them a mini-bat, a knife, and a firearm. Upon arrival, they encountered a young man who was at the residence to meet a friend. Antoine and the others brutally beat the young man, shoving the firearm in his mouth with such force that it broke one of his teeth, and tied him up as they broke into the residence and stole cash, marijuana, and high-end clothes and shoes.
The jury delivered a unanimous verdict, convicting Antoine of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and use, carrying, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. The maximum sentence for the Hobbs Act robbery charges is 20 years in prison, while the firearms charge carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison to run consecutive to any other sentence imposed and a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Thierry Antoine is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nelson S. Román on April 4, 2025. In a statement, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams praised the outstanding investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, saying, ‘Thanks to the hard work of the career prosecutors of this Office and our law enforcement partners, Antoine is now held accountable for his conduct.’
The prosecution of this case is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin L. Levander, Margaret N. Vasu, and Margery B. Feinzig, with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Shannon Becker, worked tirelessly to bring justice to the victims of this heinous crime.
