A Lancaster County man is behind bars after being sentenced to 14 months in prison for mailing threatening communications to a local judge.
Joshua Keziah, 28, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion in federal court in Scranton. Keziah had previously pleaded guilty to sending the threatening letter in August 2016.
The letter was addressed to President Judge Joseph Mandespacher of Lancaster County. Keziah’s sentence also includes two years of post-release supervision, which requires him to spend 90 days in a halfway house.
U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler praised the work of law enforcement agencies in bringing Keziah to justice. "The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania is committed to protecting our community from threats of violence," Brandler said.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Lancaster County Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan Gotlob prosecuted the case.
Keziah’s sentence is a reminder that threatening judges and law enforcement officials will not be tolerated. "We will do everything in our power to hold those responsible accountable," Brandler said.
Keziah is currently an inmate at the State Correctional Institution in Frackville, Pennsylvania. His sentence is a significant step towards bringing stability and safety to our community.
