Christopher Carnes, a 33-year-old Raleigh man, was arrested for threatening to kill President Donald Trump. During May 2026, Carnes posted several threatening videos on Facebook, stating ‘Donald J. Trump, I’m going to kill you’ and advising viewers to alert the Secret Service. The threats were made from Raleigh, and investigators later found evidence of explosive materials in Carnes’ car.

On June 6, 2026, Carnes posted another video referencing his prior threats and mentioning pipe bombs. He displayed a ‘PVC blaster’ in his car trunk, warning that he was not bluffing. After a meeting with investigators on June 10, 2026, Carnes’ car was searched, and PVC pipe and a metal pin were found.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) and the Raleigh Police Department (RPD). Carnes is charged with violating 18 U.S.C. § 871(a) and faces a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison if convicted.
