Three Houston County Residents Jailed for Kidnapping Minor

MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA – In a brutal case of kidnapping and exploitation, three Houston County residents have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their roles in abducting and transporting a minor from Alabama to Florida.

According to court records, 20-year-old Molly Michele Jarrett received a 104-month prison sentence, Coby Jerome Jordan, 24, was sentenced to 92 months, and Destiny Star Lewis, also 24, was given a 70-month prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

Prosecutors alleged that on November 4, 2022, Jarrett, Jordan, and Lewis picked up their 17-year-old victim from her residence in Dale County, Alabama. The defendants, who appeared to be friendly at first, drove the victim to rural areas in the Wiregrass region, eventually stopping at their residence in Pansey, Alabama.

However, the situation quickly turned violent. Jordan allegedly forced the victim out of the vehicle, while Jarrett encouraged him to do so. The victim was then restrained with zip ties and duct tape, with Lewis assisting Jordan in securing her.

The victim was later driven to a secluded area in Jackson County, Florida, where she was concealed with brush. Jarrett, Jordan, and Lewis returned to Alabama, leaving the victim to fend for herself. The victim eventually freed herself and found assistance at a nearby residence.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s Office investigated this case, with Assistant United States Attorney Brandon W. Bates prosecuting the defendants.

The sentencing of Jarrett, Jordan, and Lewis marks a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping and exploitation in Alabama. Their lengthy prison sentences serve as a warning to those who would engage in such heinous crimes.

As the investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate, the Department of Justice is committed to protecting the rights and safety of all individuals, particularly vulnerable minors.
