A hard-hitting investigation by the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has led to the conviction of Metairie man Timothy Duckworth, 47, in connection with making false statements on his income tax returns.
According to court documents, Duckworth made false statements on his tax return for the year 2007, under-reporting his income in the amount of approximately $610,495. This resulted in Duckworth having taxes due and owing in the amount of approximately $213,579.
The case against Duckworth began when agents from the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a thorough investigation, uncovering evidence of Duckworth’s illicit activities. U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the investigative agencies, saying they had done an outstanding job in bringing this case to justice.
Duckworth faces a maximum term of imprisonment of three years in prison, one year of supervised release after any term of imprisonment, and a $100,000 fine. U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle scheduled sentencing for March 25, 2015.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg, who worked tirelessly to ensure that justice was served in this case.
