Timothy Leak, Assault on a Federal Officer, North Carolina 2022

RALEIGH, N.C. –

In a shocking turn of events, 47-year-old Timothy Leak was sentenced to 21 months in prison for assaulting a federal law enforcement officer at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina.

According to the indictment, the assault took place on May 15, 2022, when Leak became aggressive and refused to wear his mask and return to his cell. He then rushed towards the officer and slammed the heavy metal door on her arm, pinning it in the door.

The officer was only able to free herself after calling for assistance from other staff members. As a result of the altercation, the officer suffered injuries to her arm that ultimately required surgical repair.

Leak’s criminal history and the severity of the assault were cited as reasons for the harsh sentence. He previously pled guilty to the count of Assault on a Federal Officer on August 30, 2023.
