Convicted Felon Arrested On Federal Firearm Charge

Ocala, Florida – Federal authorities announced the arrest of Timothy Lee King, 33, of Groveland, on a serious federal firearm charge.

According to the indictment, King was previously convicted of 11 felonies, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement, burglary, and two prior convictions for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On January 16, 2024, King was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Under federal law, he is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to his prior felony convictions.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. If convicted, King faces up to 15 years in federal prison.

This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Leesburg Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in American communities. The initiative focuses on fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
