A 23-year-old Albany man has pleaded guilty to making threats on Facebook that put a police officer’s life in danger.
Timothy Loren McCoy Fleming admitted in his plea agreement that he posted on Facebook threats to kill a police officer at Albany City Hall, along with a picture of himself holding a pistol.
The threats were made last January, and Fleming was subsequently arrested on a state probation violation.
He was transferred to federal custody in April after a complaint was filed in U.S. District Court.
Fleming remains in custody pending his sentencing hearing on January 4 before U.S. District Judge Michael McShane in Eugene.
The case was investigated by the Albany Police Department and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney William “Bud” Fitzgerald is prosecuting the case.
Fleming faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the felony offense of transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.
Fleming’s current status is that he remains in custody pending his sentencing hearing.
