A Fort Dodge man has been convicted of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in Iowa, according to a federal court verdict.
Timothy Wunder, 44, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine after a three-day trial in federal court in Sioux City. The verdict was returned this morning following about 3 hours of jury deliberations.
Wunder, who was previously convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking in 2002, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $20,000,000 fine, and at least ten years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The evidence at trial showed that from about February 2017 through March 2018, Wunder and others conspired to distribute more than 50 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine. A number of witnesses testified at trial as to their involvement in obtaining methamphetamine from Wunder for personal use as well as further distribution.
Wunder sold small quantities of methamphetamine to several workers at Liguria Foods in Humboldt, Iowa, where he worked. Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand will be set after a presentence report is prepared.
Wunder remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, Eagle Grove Police Department, and Iowa Division of Criminalistics Investigation.
