A New Orleans man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for possession of a machine gun, authorities said.
Toburren Lindsey, 23, of New Orleans, was sentenced on October 22, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Greg G. Guidry to 18 months incarceration after previously pleading guilty to possession of a machinegun, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(o).
Lindsey was also ordered to be placed on supervised release for three years and pay a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
According to court records, on February 21, 2023, the New Orleans Police Department patrolled the 300 Block of Bourbon Street and saw Lindsey and O’Marion Armstrong walking down Bourbon Street together.
NOPD approached Lindsey and asked him for identification and when doing so, saw a firearm protruding from Lindsey’s waistband. Lindsey attempted to flee but was detained and, a Glock Model 19, nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun was recovered from his person.
The loaded firearm contained 30 rounds of ammunition in an attached magazine, as well as one live round in the chamber.
