A Logan County man has pleaded guilty to selling stolen construction equipment, including selling equipment to more than one buyer, according to a recent plea agreement.
Todd Allen Lamb, 39, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to unlawful interstate transportation of stolen motor vehicles and wire fraud.
Lamb, who conducted consignment sales and auctions under his companies Almite Services and Almite Auctions, sold a stolen Caterpillar backhoe to a purchaser in Wyoming and a Mack truck to two different individuals.
As part of his wire fraud scheme, Lamb sold the Mack truck to two buyers and falsely told the second buyer that the truck had been stolen from the Port of Jacksonville, Florida.
The plea agreement calls for Lamb to pay $60,000 for the court to use to pay restitution to the victims. The court could order further restitution.
Judge Michael H. Watson will schedule a date for sentencing.
Todd Allen Lamb is currently awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to two counts of serious crimes.
Two others have entered guilty pleas for their role in the scheme, including Lamb’s wife, Karen Henry Lamb, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making false statements relating to transfer of a vehicle title and was sentenced to six months’ probation in October 2012.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dale E. Williams Jr. and Deborah A. Sanders are prosecuting the case.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, National Insurance Crime Bureau, and Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF).
