Somersworth Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery
Todd Elliott, a 22-year-old resident of Somersworth, New Hampshire, appeared in United States District Court and entered a guilty plea to one count of bank robbery.
Elliott’s crime occurred on November 10, 2014, when he walked into a Citizens Bank in Somersworth and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller gave Elliott a quantity of United States currency as well as a dye pack resembling a stack of bills.
As Elliott fled the bank, the dye pack exploded, leading to his apprehension shortly thereafter.
Elliott faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and criminal fines of up to $250,000. He will be detained pending sentencing, which is scheduled for November 13, 2015.
The successful resolution of this bank robbery is due to the great investigative work of the Somersworth Police and the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Bank robbery, even an unarmed bank robbery, is an inherently dangerous crime that causes great turmoil to its victims.
