TOLEDO, OHIO – A brutal crackdown on drug trafficking brought about a federal indictment for Lee T. Turner, 29, who stands accused of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute at least one kilogram of heroin.
The six-count indictment against Turner includes allegations of operating a drug house and being a felon in possession of a firearm, among others. “This defendant used firearms and homes in Toledo neighborhoods in his business the way others might use computers and calculators,” said Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
Turner, who has previously been convicted of bank robbery, robbery, kidnapping, and other felonies, is alleged to have conspired with others from November 2013 through November 2014, storing and distributing heroin at 2830 Powhattan Parkway and 707 Phillips Avenue in Toledo.
On November 20, 2014, Turner was said to have possessed approximately 1,077 grams of heroin and a 9 mm pistol, despite his extensive criminal record. Prosecutors are seeking the forfeiture of two properties and multiple vehicles associated with Turner’s drug operations.
The Toledo Metro Drug Task Force played a crucial role in the investigation that led to Turner’s arrest. Toledo Police Chief William Moton commended the team for their efforts in reducing heroin sales in the area.
Alyssa Sterling, Assistant U.S. Attorney, is prosecuting the case. An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt; Turner will receive a fair trial with the burden on the government to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
