A Hopkinsville man has been charged with distributing methamphetamine in Christian County, Kentucky, authorities announced on March 11, 2025.
According to the indictment, Tommy Powers, 41, was charged with two counts of distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine in Christian County, Kentucky on October 11, 2014, and October 15, 2024.
The defendant made his initial court appearance this week before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. The Court ordered the defendant detained pending trial.
If convicted, Powers faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
There is no parole in the federal system.
This case is being investigated by the DEA Paducah Post of Duty Office, the ATF Bowling Green Field Office, and the Hopkinsville Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Leigh Ann Dycus, of the U.S. Attorney’s Paducah Branch Office, is prosecuting the case.

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
