Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to Fentanyl Distribution
A 40-year-old Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing large quantities of fentanyl and other controlled substances. Torri McCray, of Buffalo, NY, faces a significant prison sentence and hefty fine for his crimes.
According to court documents, McCray distributed controlled substances including heroin, fentanyl, U-47700, butyryl fentanyl, and furanyl fentanyl, on four dates between June and August of 2017. The charges carry a minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, and a fine of $5,000,000.
The conviction is the culmination of an investigation on the part of the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan, New York Field Division.
Prosecutors alleged that on August 16, 2017, the Drug Enforcement Administration arrested McCray and recovered from the defendant’s pocket an amount of heroin intended for distribution. The case was handed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane.
McCray’s guilty plea marks a significant step towards resolving the case. Sentencing is scheduled for August 22, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
The defendant’s crimes carry a significant penalty, with a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years. McCray also faces a fine of $5,000,000. The exact sentence will be determined by the court at the time of sentencing.
