A North Las Vegas man with a violent criminal history who robbed a Las Vegas convenience store and gas station with a long-barreled shotgun in the summer of 2011 has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.
Tracey Brown, 40, was convicted by a jury in 2015 of one count of interference with commerce by robbery, one count of brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
Brown, who has six violent felony convictions in Nevada, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon on July 22, 2023 to 30 years in prison, announced U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden for the District of Nevada.
According to court records and trial testimony, on July 26, 2011, Brown, armed with a long-barrel shotgun, robbed a gas station mini-mart located on S. Rainbow Boulevard in Las Vegas.
After robbing the store, Brown got into a getaway car driven by his co-defendant, Teshae Gallon. Their vehicle was stopped a short while later, and Brown fled. Brown was apprehended when a canine dog found him hiding under a bush.
Brown’s violent criminal history includes convictions for burglary and grand larceny auto while possessing a shotgun in 1994, burglary with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon, as well as conspiracy to commit robbery in 2000, robbery in 2010, and multiple counts of first degree kidnapping, burglary with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary and robbery in 2015.
This case was investigated by the FBI, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the Las Vegas Deputy City Marshal Unit as part of the Safe Streets Task Force and Project Safe Neighborhoods program.
