BANK ROBBERY ROCKS MARRENO COMMUNITY
A Marrero man has been charged with robbing a Whitney Bank in his community, leaving residents shaken and authorities on high alert.
According to a recent indictment, Travis Carter, a 37-year-old Marrero resident, robbed the Whitney Bank located in Marrero, Louisiana on July 22, 2016.
Carter’s alleged crimes have not gone unnoticed, with the FBI leading the investigation and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany Reed taking charge of the prosecution.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced the indictment, stating that Carter faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years, a maximum fine of $250,000, a maximum term of supervised release of three years, and a mandatory $100 special assessment if convicted.
However, Polite emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
As the community continues to reel from the news, authorities remain committed to bringing justice to the victim and the people of Marrero.
