WASHINGTON — Travis Hill was officially anointed as the 23rd Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), marking a pivotal moment in the agency’s history. Hill, who has been serving as Acting Chairman since January 20, 2025, and Vice Chairman since January 5, 2023, brings a robust background to his new role.
Hill was nominated by President Trump on September 30, 2025, for a term of five years. His nomination was swiftly confirmed by the Senate on December 18, 2025. Before joining the FDIC Board, Hill held various positions at the agency; the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; and Regions Financial Corporation.
His educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and political science from Duke University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. This combination of academic prowess and professional experience positions Hill to tackle the challenges ahead with a comprehensive understanding of financial policy and regulation.
