Tremaine Laron Moore Jr., Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Iowa 2025

Tremaine Laron Moore Jr., a 25-year-old man from Dubuque, Iowa, has been sentenced to 7 years in federal prison for possessing a loaded and stolen handgun and marijuana while on federal supervised release.

On November 17, 2025, Moore pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and admitted to violating the terms of his supervised release in a prior federal gun case.

On December 19, 2024, United States Probation Officers conducted an unannounced home visit at Moore’s house in Dubuque, accompanied by a Dubuque police officer. During the search, they found a loaded, previously stolen 9mm handgun, baggies of marijuana, a scale, and cash.

The District Court sentenced Moore to 5 years in prison for the new firearms charge and a consecutive 2-year sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release.

Moore was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams and will serve a total of 84 months’ imprisonment, followed by a 3-year term of supervised release.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to reduce violent crime and protect communities from perpetrators of violent crime.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick J. Reinert and investigated by the United States Probation Office for the Northern District of Iowa, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Dubuque Police Department.
