A 28-year-old man from Nevada, Mo., has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison without parole for his role in a methamphetamine conspiracy.

Trenton D. Wallace, 28, was handed down the sentence by U.S. District Judge Roseann A. Ketchmark. He pleaded guilty on Dec. 14, 2023, to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and attempting to possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

The charges against Wallace stem from an incident on Feb. 16, 2022, when he was stopped by an Oklahoma State Highway Patrol trooper on Interstate 44. A police dog alerted to the presence of drugs, and a search of the vehicle revealed a duffel bag containing 25 pounds (9.9 kilograms) of methamphetamine, packaged in 10 large plastic bags.

During the search, troopers also found two loaded semi-automatic pistols, a H&K 9mm and a Sig Sauer .40-caliber, and $4,206 in cash on Wallace. The methamphetamine seized would be enough to supply two doses (.25 grams) of methamphetamine to every man, woman, and child in Vernon County, Mo.

According to court documents, Wallace is an admitted high-ranking member of the Southwest Honkey’s prison gang. This case was investigated by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica R. Eatmon.

Wallace’s sentencing brings an end to a long and complex investigation into the methamphetamine conspiracy. The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of methamphetamine on communities across the country.
