TRENTON, N.J. — In a gritty courtroom battle against the streets of Trenton, Davias Taylor, alias ‘Vicey,’ has been handed a 120-month sentence, equating to a decade behind bars, for his involvement in a sprawling heroin trafficking conspiracy. The U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today’s severe sentence, which comes after Taylor’s guilty plea to conspiracy charges.
According to the grim details of the case, Taylor and his 25 co-conspirators were accused of distributing over one kilogram of heroin across Trenton and its surrounding neighborhoods. His sentence was imposed by Chief U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson in a federal court session held in Trenton.
The investigation, which spanned from October 2017 to October 2018, revealed a network where Taylor played a pivotal role. He was not just a participant but also a facilitator, introducing his conspirators to David Antonio, whom they called ‘Papi,’ the primary supplier of heroin bricks. Taylor’s actions allowed the conspiracy to thrive and profit from the distribution of the illicit substance.
As part of the conspiracy, which operated in several areas of Trenton including Martin Luther King Boulevard and Sanford Street, Taylor personally redistributed significant quantities of heroin for profit. The investigation was a complex dance of wiretaps, controlled purchases, and confidential sources that ultimately unraveled the drug ring.
Beyond his prison term, Taylor faces five years of supervised release once he serves his time. U.S. Attorney Carpenito lauded numerous law enforcement agencies for their dedication to bringing down this dangerous syndicate, including the FBI, ATF, Trenton Police Department, and others.
With today’s sentencing, justice has been served for Taylor’s role in fueling the heroin crisis in Trenton. His sentence sends a clear message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated and that those who profit from it will face serious consequences.
