Triple Murder Ring Convicted in D.C. Labor Day Shooting

WASHINGTON – Erwin Dubose, Kamar Queen, Damonta Thompson, William Johnson Lee, and Mussay Rezene, all from Washington, D.C., alongside Toyia Johnson of Rockville, MD, faced justice today as they were found guilty in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for the 2021 Labor Day weekend triple murder outside 633 Longfellow Street, NW.

The jury on July 3, 2025, delivered verdicts against Dubose, Queen, Johnson Lee, and Thompson for conspiracy to commit a crime of violence, first-degree murder while armed with aggravating circumstances, and assault with intent to kill while armed. Johnson was convicted of tampering with physical evidence and being an accessory after the fact. Rezene was found guilty of similar charges.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro declared, “This senseless violence will not be tolerated in this city.” She emphasized the DC U.S. Attorney’s Office’s commitment to stopping such crimes, aiming for significant sentences for these criminals.

According to the government’s evidence, Thompson drove Dubose, Queen, and Johnson Lee to Longfellow Street where they opened fire on a neighborhood gathering at 7:33 p.m. on September 4, 2021. The shooters fled in the vehicle, leaving three victims dead and another three wounded.

Toyia Johnson, an associate of Dubose, falsely reported the suspects’ vehicle stolen and set it ablaze with Rezene after midnight on September 6, 2021, as retaliation for a prior shooting. The triple homicide was linked to this earlier incident.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Chief Pamela Smith joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in commending the investigators and Assistant United States Attorneys Colleen Kukowski and Charles R. Jones for their efforts in bringing these criminals to justice.
