In the sleepy town of W TANARUS, North Dakota, a brazen thief struck the Fargo Express Company on Monday night, November 12, 1888. The culprit, F S Simpson, a young man with a dubious past, had been in town for only two weeks, yet managed to swindle the company out of a substantial sum. Simpson had reportedly ‘checked off’ several packages of money, including a $1000 sum destined for Benjamin Snipes, and another package worth an unspecified amount bound for Palmer Station.
