Tulsa Gunman Busted for Felon in Possession

United States Attorney Clint Johnson today announced the results of the May Federal Grand Jury 2023-B Indictments.

The following individuals have been charged with violations of United States law in indictments returned by the Grand Jury. The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged violations of federal law, which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

Antonio Deshawn Baker, an 18-year-old from Tulsa and a member of the Cherokee Nation, is charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition knowing he was previously convicted of a felony. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office are the investigative agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mandy M. Mackenzie is prosecuting the case. The indictment, 24-CR-160, alleges that Baker knowingly possessed a firearm and ammunition after being convicted of a felony.

Baker’s indictment is a stark reminder that those with prior felony convictions are prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. This case is a prime example of the U.S. Attorney’s Office commitment to enforcing federal firearms laws and keeping our communities safe.

Johnson praised the investigative agencies, saying, ‘Their tireless efforts to bring justice to our communities are to be commended.’

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mandy M. Mackenzie. Baker is scheduled to appear in court for an initial appearance on Friday, [date].
