BOGALUSA, LA – Tylar Redditt, 22, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, has confessed to federal narcotics and firearms violations, bringing him one step closer to a lengthy prison sentence. Redditt pled guilty on January 9th to charges stemming from a conspiracy to distribute heroin and the illegal possession of firearms used in connection with his drug trafficking operation.
According to court documents, Redditt wasn’t just moving product; he was armed and ready to protect his operation. Both counts against him carry a potential sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment, with an additional three years of supervised release looming after that. He also faces mandatory fines: a $100 special assessment fee, plus up to $1,000,000 for the drug charge and $250,000 for the gun charge. That’s a steep price for dealing, even in a town like Bogalusa.
Federal agents didn’t have to dig deep to build their case. Social media provided a wealth of evidence, with numerous photos surfacing showing Redditt brazenly displaying firearms, drugs, and stacks of cash. The investigation also revealed Redditt’s involvement in a retaliatory shooting on July 27, 2022, a direct consequence of the murder of local rapper Javorious Scott. While Redditt wasn’t charged with the murder itself, his response points to a volatile and dangerous environment within Bogalusa’s criminal underbelly.
This case isn’t being handled in isolation. It’s part of the Department of Justice’s “Project Safe Neighborhoods” (PSN), a nationwide initiative aiming to reduce violent crime and gun violence by uniting federal, state, and local law enforcement with the communities they serve. The feds are touting a renewed focus on community trust, violence prevention, and strategic enforcement, but the results on the streets often tell a different story.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Bogalusa Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurice E. Landrieu, Jr. of the Narcotics Unit is prosecuting the case. Expect more indictments to follow as the feds continue to squeeze the criminal networks operating in southeast Louisiana.
Redditt’s guilty plea is a small victory in a larger war against drug trafficking and gun violence. But in a town like Bogalusa, where poverty and desperation breed crime, one conviction rarely solves the underlying problems. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and expose the truth behind the headlines. Sentencing date has not yet been announced.
