Tyler Dwayne Waddle, 35, Sentenced to 19 Years for Transporting Child Pornography

Tyler Dwayne Waddle, a 35-year-old Tampa resident, was sentenced to 19 years and 7 months in federal prison for transporting child pornography. The sentencing took place on an unspecified date in Tampa, FL, by U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington.

According to court documents, Waddle was involved in the transportation of child pornography to undercover agents in May 2016. Forensic analysis of his iPod Touch revealed that it contained approximately 1,900 images of child pornography, including sadistic images of prepubescent children.

“Today this predator is being held accountable for his deviant crimes,” said Susan L. McCormick, special agent in charge of HSI Tampa. “But what we’d like everyone to remember is the victims of these horrendous crimes will be affected for their entire lifetime.”

The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory T. Nolan.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Waddle pleaded guilty on January 31, 2017, and was subsequently sentenced for his crimes. The Court also ordered him to forfeit an iPod Touch, which he had used to store and send child pornography.

Waddle’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the importance of continued efforts to combat this issue. The investigation and prosecution of this case highlight the dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to protecting the victims of child exploitation.
