A Rapid City man has been sentenced for his role in a firearm crime in South Dakota.
Tyler Krebs, age 29, was found in possession of a 9mm pistol during a traffic stop in Rapid City on May 19, 2016.
Krebs was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the stop, according to authorities.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Rapid City Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Patterson prosecuted the case.
Krebs was indicted for the charge by a federal grand jury on June 21, 2016.
On February 22, 2018, Krebs was sentenced to time served, 2 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
This conviction stems from Krebs being found in possession of a firearm while being a prohibited person.
The case against Krebs serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible gun ownership and the consequences of violating firearm laws.
