Tyriq Quentel Coger, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Florida 2025

ORLANDO, FL – In a disturbing case of alleged gun possession, Tyriq Quentel Coger, a 26-year-old from Melbourne, Florida, has been charged with illegally owning a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to the charges, on August 27, 2025, Coger was stopped by authorities for driving with no lights on. During the traffic stop, Coger switched seats with the front seat passenger and was observed making suspicious movements.

After a backseat passenger admitted to a firearm being in the glove compartment, a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, a loaded Glock pistol equipped with a machinegun conversion device was found in the glove compartment.

Coger, who has multiple prior felony convictions, including aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, battery by person in prison or jail facility, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Rockledge Police Department. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman.

If convicted, Coger faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison. The indictment also notifies Coger that the United States intends to forfeit the firearm and ammunition used in the offense.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
