Tyrone Eugene Sitton, Fentanyl Trafficking, North Carolina 2024

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – In a major blow to the city’s underworld, Tyrone Eugene Sitton, a/k/a ‘Dirty’, 46, of Asheville, has been sentenced to 151 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for fentanyl trafficking and gun charges, announced Russ Ferguson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

The lengthy prison sentence was handed down after Sitton pleaded guilty to three counts of distribution of fentanyl and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon on July 29, 2024. Court records indicate Sitton has multiple state convictions in North Carolina for drug distribution, which qualified him for an increased sentence as a career offender.

Between November and December 2022, Sitton distributed 30.1 grams of fentanyl in the Asheville area. During the investigation, Sitton sold fentanyl at least three times to a confidential informant working with the ATF. In addition to selling fentanyl, on December 28, 2022, Sitton sold the informant three firearms: a shotgun, a rifle, and a pistol.

The U.S. Attorney commended the ATF, the DEA, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Asheville Police Department for their investigation of the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex M. Scott with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Asheville prosecuted the case.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the opioid epidemic and reduce gun violence in the community. Sitton’s sentence serves as a reminder that those involved in fentanyl trafficking and gun crimes will be held accountable for their actions.
