Tywone Smothers, Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana, New York 2015

BUFFALO, NY – A notorious Schuele Boys Gang associate has been brought to justice after pleading guilty to a serious crime.

Tywone Smothers, 36, of Buffalo, was charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana in a federal court. The crime, which occurred between June 2013 and July 2014, carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The plea is the culmination of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, which includes representatives from various local law enforcement agencies.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Schuele Boys Gang, which operated in the Schuele Street area of the East Side of Buffalo, was responsible for multiple acts of violence and the distribution of illegal narcotics, including cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.

Smothers is one of 28 Schuele Boys Gang members and associates arrested in this case. To date, 11 of the defendants have been convicted.
