BUFFALO, N.Y. – A 36-year-old associate of the notorious Schuele Boys Gang was sentenced to two years’ probation and four months’ home detention for his role in a marijuana distribution conspiracy.
Tywone Smothers, of Buffalo, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute marijuana in a case investigated by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser, Smothers conspired with Damario James and others to distribute marijuana in the City of Buffalo between June 2013 and July 2014.
Smothers was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara on [No date given].
Meanwhile, another defendant, Xavier Hill, 43, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. Hill purchased cocaine from Schuele Boy member Michael Robertson on numerous occasions.
The Schuele Boys Gang, which operated in the Schuele Street area of the East Side of Buffalo, is believed to be responsible for multiple acts of violence and the distribution of illegal narcotics, including cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.
The gang’s activities were the subject of a massive investigation that resulted in the arrest of 28 Schuele Boys Gang members, associates, and other individuals. To date, 16 of the defendants have been convicted.
Xavier Hill is scheduled to be sentenced on March 24, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Arcara.
