Urbandale Man Convicted of Child Pornography Crimes

DES MOINES, IA

A 46-year-old Urbandale man has been found guilty of receiving and transporting child pornography, announced United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum.

Nedzad Juhic was convicted of the crimes on September 5, 2018, following a two-day trial. He was ordered detained pending sentencing.

A law enforcement investigation discovered Juhic’s involvement with child pornography in June 2015. A search warrant was executed at his residence in Urbandale, and a forensic examination of his laptop found over 1,500 videos of child pornography.

Both receipt and transportation of child pornography carry a potential sentence of between five and twenty years in prison, five years to life of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000, and a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims Fund.

Juhic will be required to forfeit his laptop and may be ordered to pay restitution. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security—Homeland Security Investigations, and assisted by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation’s Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, the Urbandale Police Department, the Pleasant Hill Police Department, and the Perry Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa as part of the U.S. “Project Safe Childhood” initiative.
