Armond Bass, Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, California 2023

VACAVILLE, CA – Armond Bass, 40, of Vacaville, is facing serious time after pleading guilty Thursday to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The case, announced by U.S. Attorney Eric Grant, reveals a brazen disregard for the law and a clear threat to public safety.

Court documents paint a disturbing picture. In late October 2024, Bass wasn’t just holding onto illegal weaponry – he was actively selling it. Twice, in the parking lot of a Vacaville softball field, Bass peddled firearms and a substantial amount of ammunition. On October 23rd, he unloaded an AR-15-style privately manufactured firearm and over 200 rounds of ammunition. Less than a week later, on October 29th, he returned to the same location to sell a Colt M16 semi-automatic rifle.

This wasn’t a first offense. Bass is explicitly prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition due to a lengthy rap sheet. The feds confirm he’s been convicted of multiple felonies, including two separate counts of domestic violence. This isn’t a case of a misguided citizen; it’s a repeat offender knowingly breaking the law and putting weapons into potentially dangerous hands.

The bust is the result of a coordinated investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Vacaville Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the FBI’s Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Campbell is leading the prosecution, promising a thorough and uncompromising legal battle.

Bass is scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Daniel J. Calabretta on December 11, 2025, to receive his sentence. He’s looking at a maximum of 15 years in prison and a hefty $250,000 fine. While the sentencing guidelines allow for some discretion, given Bass’s history and the nature of the crimes, a substantial prison term is widely expected.

This case falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a federal program designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The Department of Justice launched a strengthened version of PSN in May 2021, focusing on building trust within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, and prioritizing strategic enforcement. You can find more information on PSN at Justice.gov/PSN. The message is clear: those who illegally traffic firearms will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
