Baltimore, Maryland – In a shocking turn of events, 31-year-old Vanessa Yalixa Munoz-Baque has been charged with illegal re-entry after a string of violent crimes in the Frederick area.
According to court documents, Munoz-Baque was previously removed from the U.S. in August 2023, but illegally re-entered the country on November 3, 2023. She began residing in Frederick, Maryland, where she was eventually arrested for attempted murder.
The attempted murder charge stemmed from a violent incident on September 11, 2024, where Munoz-Baque allegedly placed a knife to her victim’s neck and stabbed him in the leg. She was subsequently charged with assault and subsequently pled guilty to first-degree assault in March 2025, receiving a 25-year sentence with all but three years suspended.
Munoz-Baque’s initial deportation occurred after she was apprehended at the border in Eagle Pass, Texas, on June 17, 2023, for attempting to enter the U.S. without inspection. She was subsequently placed in expedited removal proceedings and an immigration judge ordered her removal to Ecuador.
Despite her removal, Munoz-Baque never obtained consent from the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for readmission into the country. Her actions have now led to a guilty plea for re-entry charges.
Vanessa Yalixa Munoz-Baque faces a maximum sentence of two years in federal prison for the re-entry offense. Sentencing is set for Thursday, June 25, at 2:30 p.m. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes commended the ICE-ERO for its work in this investigation and thanked First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason D. Medinger and Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Shea for their prosecution efforts.
This case is a stark reminder of the dangers of illegal immigration and the importance of our nation’s efforts to protect its citizens from violent crime. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
