Vantroy Godboat, Heroin Distribution, Pennsylvania 2016

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A local man is facing a hefty prison sentence after pleading guilty to federal heroin charges. On Thursday, Vantroy Godboat, 45, pleaded guilty to violating federal narcotics laws in a Johnstown, Pa., courtroom.

According to court documents, on multiple occasions in 2016, Godboat distributed less than 100 grams of heroin. The exact dates were Jan. 27, Feb. 2, and Feb. 4, 2016. Additionally, on Feb. 5, 2016, Godboat was found to possess less than 100 grams of heroin with the intent to distribute.

Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Cambria County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation that led to Godboat’s prosecution.

The charges against Godboat carry a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison and a fine of $4,000,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Godboat’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson.

The guilty plea was a result of an investigation led by the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cambria County Drug Task Force. Their efforts have brought Vantroy Godboat one step closer to facing the consequences of his actions.
