A 42-year-old man from Moorefield has been handed a stiff sentence for his role in a methamphetamine distribution ring.
Victor Allen Self was sentenced to 148 months of incarceration after pleading guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine in federal court.
The charges against Self stemmed from an investigation into his involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine from May 7, 2019 through August 9, 2019 in Grant County and elsewhere.
Self admitted to working with others to sell the illicit substance, which is a highly addictive and destructive drug.
The case was investigated by the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, the West Virginia State Police, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the sentencing hearing.
Self’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of involvement in the illicit drug trade.
While the exact amount of methamphetamine involved in the case is not specified, the fact that Self was willing to work with others to distribute the substance is a clear indication of the severity of the charges.
The investigation and prosecution of cases like this one are crucial in disrupting the supply of illicit drugs and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
