A Boston, Massachusetts man has been found guilty of conspiring to distribute fentanyl in New Hampshire.
Victor Cuevas Romero, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, namely fentanyl.
According to court documents, on May 19, 2023, a cooperating source placed an order for fentanyl at a number operated by a drug trafficking organization. The individual who answered the phone directed the source to an address on Belmont Street in Manchester to make the drug transaction.
The source went to the address and shortly thereafter, the defendant drove there and picked up the cooperating source in his car. Inside his car, the defendant provided the source with fentanyl in exchange for $100.
The defendant, Victor Cuevas Romero, was originally charged on June 6, 2023. U.S. District Court Judge Samantha Elliott scheduled sentencing for April 3, 2024.
The charging statute provides a sentence of no greater than 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a maximum fine of $1,000,000.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration led the investigation, with valuable assistance from the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Aaron Gingrande and Jarad Hodes are prosecuting the case.
This effort is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
