Long Island Investment Advisor Lands in Hot Water with $160M Investment Fraud, Faces 20 Years Behind Bars
Central Islip, NY – In a high-stakes case, Vincent Camarda, the 52-year-old Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of A.G. Morgan Financial Advisors, LLC (AGM), pleaded guilty to securities fraud and investment advisor fraud in federal court.
Camarda, a resident of Long Island, New York, is accused of masterminding a massive investment scheme that bilked nearly 300 investors out of $160 million.
According to court documents, Camarda, along with his cohorts, promised investors unusually high returns on their investments, often touting ‘guaranteed’ returns, when in reality, the funds were being misused for personal gain.
When sentenced, Camarda faces a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, as well as restitution of at least $160,022,836.81 and forfeiture of $6,639,498.17.
The court proceeding was held before United States District Judge Nusrat J. Choudhury, who will preside over the sentencing hearing.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of doing one’s due diligence when investing in the stock market or seeking financial advice from a professional.
