Courts have dealt a crushing blow to the sickening trade of child exploitation in Missouri, with one man facing the harsh reality of a 35-year prison sentence.

Vincent Dominy, a 30-year-old from Republic, Missouri, was sentenced in federal court on an unspecified date in 2021 for his role in the sexual exploitation of a minor and receipt and distribution of child pornography.

According to court documents, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on August 22, 2020. Dominy transmitted multiple images of child pornography through his Yahoo! email account.

On August 24, 2020, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Dominy’s residence, where he admitted to receiving and distributing images of child pornography, some as young as toddlers. He also confessed to taking photos of his sexual abuse of a 3-year-old child and sending some of the photos to other individuals via the internet.

Dominy pleaded guilty to one count of the sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of receiving and distributing child pornography on September 23, 2021. The court ordered him to pay $5,000 in victim restitution, in addition to his 35-year prison sentence without parole.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher and investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force. The sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child exploitation and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat this heinous crime.

As part of the nationwide initiative Project Safe Childhood, launched in May 2006, the U.S. government continues to marshal federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
