Child Predator Faces 15+ Years in Prison
A Springfield man was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for child sex exploitation and illegally possessing a firearm, the Grimy Times has learned.
Corey Dean Frasher, 42, of Springfield, pleaded guilty to charges related to the sexual exploitation of a child and to illegally possessing a firearm after law enforcement officers received two Cyber Tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to court documents, Frasher uploaded images of child pornography to his Flickr account in January 2017. A search warrant was executed at his residence on February 22, 2017, and investigators found a computer tower containing a series of child pornography images and videos depicting Frasher engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a minor victim.
Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition. Frasher has prior felony convictions, making him subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force and the Springfield, Mo., Police Department.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller.
Frasher remains in federal custody and will face sentencing after completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
Prosecutors said Frasher could face up to 40 years in federal prison without parole, but a sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
