Vincent Roy Tsosie, Jr., Arson & Murder, Arizona 2020

A Tuba City man has been sentenced to life in prison for a heinous crime that shook the community in 2019. Vincent Roy Tsosie, Jr., 28, was found guilty of arson, first-degree felony murder, and second-degree murder.

According to investigators, Tsosie entered a home in Tuba City on November 2019, attempted to assault one of the residents, and then set the home on fire. The homeowner, who was unable to navigate through the flames and smoke, tragically lost his life.

The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety, Criminal Investigation Services, collaborated on the investigation, which was led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Phoenix. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jennifer E. LaGrange and Sharon K. Sexton handled the prosecution.

U.S. District Judge Susan M. Brnovich handed down the sentence, which includes concurrent life sentences for Tsosie’s crimes.

In a statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, emphasized the severity of Tsosie’s actions and the impact they had on the community.
