Virginia Man Sentenced for Child Pornography

NORFOLK, Va. – A Virginia Beach man has been sentenced to 180 months in prison for his role in a disturbing child pornography case.

Marcus Warrick, 29, was found guilty by a federal jury on February 4, 2014, of receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

According to court records, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed a search warrant at Warrick’s residence on November 8, 2013. During the search, investigators seized his computer and found more than 400 videos and images of child pornography.

The investigation revealed that Warrick had installed numerous file-sharing programs on his computer and actively sought out images of child pornography using search terms.

Warrick’s sentence includes 180 months in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Randy Stoker and Elizabeth Yusi.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006. The project marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

Warrick’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the importance of continued efforts to combat this growing problem.
